World War 1 Sword

A grandfather is telling his grandson war stories. 

"At the end of World War 1, I was awarded for my bravery after saving a group of my men," the grandfather says. "You see, we were fighting in northern France and one of our enemies threw a grenade at us. I managed to pick it up and throw it away before it exploded. So right after the war ended, a General gave me a sword, engraved with the words 'Awarded for Bravery and Valor, A True Hero, World War 1'." 

The grandson thinks about the story for a minute and then says 

"Grandpa, that story can't be true!"

Can you solve this riddle?

A man worked at a high security institution. The man tried to log into his computer and the computer denied the password. He then remembered that the passwords to the computers were reset every month for security reasons. He called his boss for his new password.

The man said, "Boss, my old password is out of date."

The boss said, "Yes, it is. The new password is different, but if you listen closely you will be able to figure out the new one. Your new password has the same amount of letters as the old one, and four of the letters are the same."

The man then logged into his computer with no trouble.

The Superstitious President

Mr. Fisher is a night watchman in a large company. On a certain morning when Mr. Fisher wants to go home, his boss tells him: "I'll go for a business trip to Norway. Tomorrow I will depart from Heathrow airport." Mr. Fisher however advises him to take a boat. "Why should I?" asked the president. "This night I dreamed that the plane to Norway crashes, just before it will land," is the response. The president smiles first, but since he is pretty superstitious he decides to take the boat. When he arrives in Norway, he is told that the plane which he should have taken had crashed. When the president returns from the trip, he gives a big reward to Mr. Fisher and immediately fires him.

The King and His Hats

The King calls in three wise men and tells them to all close their eyes. While their eyes are closed, he goes around and puts a hat on each of them. "I put a blue or white hat on each of you," the King says. "I won't tell you what color each hat is, but I promise you that at least one of you has a blue hat." 

"Now open your eyes," he continues. "You may not communicate with each other at all. Within one hour, one of you must call out the color of your own hat. If you aren't able to do this, or if anyone calls out the wrong color, I will have you all exiled from the kingdom." 

The wise men open their eyes and look at the other mens' hats. They stand there for almost the whole hour in silence, thinking. Just as time is about to run out, all three men figure out the color of their own hats and yell the colors out at the same time.  You can assume that all three men are perfect logicians, that they know that the others are perfect logicians, and that they all think at the same speed.

Einstein's Riddle

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

Somebody owns a fish. The question is: who?

Can You Figure This Out!?

Three guys all show up at a hotel at the same time. They all want a room.
The guy at the desk says "Sorry, there's a convention in town and all I got is one room."
After some negotiating, the three guys decide to split the cost of the one room.
The desk clerk says "That'll be $30." Each of the three guys pulls out a ten dollar bill and hands it to the guy at the desk.

After the guys go to the room, the desk clerk starts to feel guilty. You see, the room actually costed $25 bucks. So he calls the bell hop over and says "Here's five one dollar bills, take them to the guys in room 418."

The bell hop arrives at the room, explains the mistake with the cost of the room and hands them the five dollars. The guy that answers the door keeps a dollar, hands a dollar to each of the other two guys, and gives the bell hop a two dollar tip.

OK, here's what you have to figure out:

So each guy paid ten bucks, but got a dollar back . . . right?

Three times nine is $27, right?
The bell hop got a 2 dollar tip, right?
27 plus 2 is 29, right?
But they paid $30, didn't they?
