A Lightweight Pop Up Survey For All Blogs

A reblog post for blogging ...

Something I have been seeing a lot on blogs and websites is the pop up survey from Qualaroo.It's actually a neat way to run a survey on your blog, it sits in the corner of the page big enough to grab the attention of the reader but not so big as to block content.It also has a close option so if readers are not interested they can get rid of it.

The default survey is set to ask readers how they found your site but there are a number of set surveys and you can create your own with any questions you want. You then have an account dashboard you access to view the stats and results.I added a version to this test blog on blogger so you can see it in action. The survey can be easily added to Blogger, Wordpress (self hosted only), Tumblr and TypePad blogs.

Add The Survey To Your Blog

First you need to set up your survey and get the code here is a link to Qualaroo to do just that. Once you have the code Qualaroo check this link to instal it in blogger;

Best Chatting Application

I've tried many chatting application before. The first one I used was the messenger for Hotmail. It was okay since I can catch up with many things my friends do in social media and can chat with more than one person. But eventually I noticed that it has a problem with privacy. Many things show up without permission and there's no blocking for that. Plus, it's connected to my personal e-mail address which was an issue.

Roaming around and looking for other applications I found the best one of them:

5 Best Media Uplaoding Sites

With the many pictures, videos and albums these days, one needs a place to keep them all for sharing, saving or backup in case the copy on any hard disk is lost. Putting it up in the internet with the right privacy settings is a great idea.

Here are the ones I recommend for their features

1. Photobucket: My No.1 choice.  Simply it's easy to use, quick and really handy. You can upload your pictures as well as your videos. Follow people, or they follow you back and of course set the privacy for anything you like. There are fun themes to design your albums with, and make sideshows. Registration is required but it won't take more than 60 sec.

2. Flickr: This one is associated with Yahoo! Another handy site for uploading you photos and pictures. As a real neat way for displaying your files. Also, registration is required.

3. Herosh: A simple an quick site for those who don't like to register anywhere and start their business right away. This unique site allows you to upload 5 photos at once. Like uploading, there's an option to make your own account to save your files for later use.

4. Imageshack: This is another site just like the previous one. You can upload right away or just make your own account to save your photos in albums on the site.

5. Picasa: Another uploading site associated with the famous search engine. Uploads photos and videos. You'll have to make an account in google to able to use this site.

What other uploading site do you use?! Add and share with the world =)

TinEye! The Image Search Engine

Ever had a picture that you wanted to search more info about?!

Just like you do with words on any search engine. You have this great picture of some animal, plant, flower or any other person but you just don't know and want to search it. No keywords for that and you can only type words in the search.

Now with TinEye this kind of process is possible. Searching by image just like you do with words. It'll show you the whole picture, where it was used, the original one and any other related detail. A perfect site to add into your favorites.

Auto Publish Your Blog Posts

When running a blog it is an important element to keep it up to date like posting twice or more per week as mentioned in the Tips for Writing Good Blog post. You can write you topics in advance and get to your dashboard to post them on time. Though this is a good way, you can also try the auto-publishing feature in blogger that allows your posts be published according to a certain date you fix. This way you get more time to do  other stuff then coming here every time for posting your blog.

 Auto-publishing blog post is known as scheduled posts in blogger and it's as simple as:

10 Great Tools for Learning New Languages

As I wrote in my previous posts about tips in learning a new language, part 1 and part 2. Today I'll share some great sites that will help you along as a tool in improving your stuff.

 Let's get on with the list of 10 sites to help you with your language;

1. Livemocha: that would be the first site I'll recommend. It has like over 20 languages to learn. Provided with audio, text, video and native people to practice with.

2. About: that's another great site you can benefit from. Expert and pros will be your teacher in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and English as a second language.

3. Mylanguageexchange: another great site for language exchanging. It's not free though and you have to pay a small fee to access more lesson on the site which are worth it.

4. Chinese-Tool: for those who are interesting and learning Chinese language. Lots of text, lessons, audio and video. Pretty much like livemocha.

5. Conversationexchange: as the address states it's all about exchanging conversations. Get around with native people you are interested in and teach one in exchange.

Recover Your Lost Data CD

Did your CD went blank after you can swear that you burnt your files in it in the right methods and you even check everything then it's all vanished!? Do you still see the computer giving you a status of a full (or to a certain) size CD but you don't see anything there, just an empty space?! Did the (show hidden files and folders) trick fail to get your important and favorite stuff back from your CD!? And all the other things didn't work too?!

Well, worry no more cause today we have a magical savoir for these situations.

First, let's just talk why this situation happens. After experiencing the same thing I did a little search on google and found these 2 possibles for vanishing files from CD;

1. The files didn't get burnt on the CD.
This happens when you are using a CD-writer. Like to open the CD from (My Computer) then drop and drag or copy and paste your files to it, write and then done. Sometimes this process isn't done and you think the files are on your CD. You can see them cause they are still in the cache of the PC but once you try it on another computer you won't find your files there. So double checking is must.

2. Using rewritable CD (RW)
In this cause since it's a rewritable one your files might mistakenly get replaced with new files when you burn them. Cause it has the feature of writing and erasing files from it. So the chance of happening is possible.

Now let's get with the main topic of this post, how to get them back?!

[Blogger] Hiding Linkwithin Widget from Home Page

In my previous post I talked about an important widget for every site that is the sharing button. I mentioned that AddThis is the most popular one and how to fix the common problem of hiding it from your Blogger home page.

Today, I'm going to talk about another widget which is the related posts one. I know there are a lot of this weight online but the one I'm gonna talk about here is the Linkwithin

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM9LR8xmWEC-c15Lnu_nHHoi7qyX4K4lrr8YZ91f6GL0VbCFmMMGPrGr-nL8X-CoETukxzn8GB-EO-GTz-vIK1S6PAZ7A06WHyV8-QeDotvYVeBNnSAXTV5hnU52pk8lFC4RXe3xQ9gSE/s1600/link-wihin.jpg

It's a very handy one only the problem is – like the sharing button – it shows on the home page when you just want it to be in the post.

The trick is simple just follow these steps

[Blogger] Hiding the Share Button from Home Page

One of the important widgets that every blog has is the sharing button.

Of course there are a lot online but AddThis is the well-know one between them all. You can find it at almost every blog; even some sites use it such as livemocha.

Adding this widget to your blog is simple. Just go to the site and follow the guide. However, there's a common problem about it that is how it shows on the home page while you want it to be only in the posts alone.

And in this post I'll show you how to do that; just follow these simple steps
